Colorado State Guide

The Rocky Mountains run north to south down the middle of Colorado, splitting the state in two. To the west of the Rockies lie a series of mountain ranges, canyons, and plateaus. To the east lie flat, arid plains. The majority of Colorado's population (including the capital city of Denver) lies on the eastern edge of the Rockies, where the high mountains provide partial protection from western storms.
